Planning is ongoing for the 2010 NHAR Convention, scheduled for Oct. 17-20 at the Mount Washington Hotel and Resort in Bretton Woods. We encourage all members to save the dates, as this will be a convention like no other, with a focus on our incredible exhibitors, a revised schedule to include the return of the RPAC ceremony and the combination of REALTOR of the Year and Installation banquet, a Real Estate Bar Camp and a slate of educational opportunities second to none.
The fact that our Convention will be returning to the majestic Mount Washington in the heart of the White Mountains is just one more reason to plan now to take advantage of all that the annual Convention traditonally provides.
This will not be your mother’s convention, but instead the Mother of all NHAR Conventions, with a particular focus on the tools you need today in our ever-changing industry. Indeed, this will be an event that our members cannot afford to miss.
Stay tuned for further details, and save those dates. The 2010 NHAR Convention will be one for the ages.

New Hampshire REALTORS® have every reason to be extremely proud that they not only survived 2009, but in fact sold more homes than in 2008. That was a huge achievement considering the near-record depth of the Great Recession.
During 2009, the bad news just kept coming. New Hampshire’s unemployment rate peaked at 7.2 percent in September – the highest it had been in almost 17 years. There were over 3,400 home foreclosures in 2009, almost as many as the nearly 3,600 in 2008. As if that were not enough, total statewide employment fell by over 15,000 jobs between November 2008 and November 2009.
But that was so last year. What about 2010? Well, the consensus of most economists is that the recovery from this extraordinary recession will get underway this year, although they also predict that the recovery will be slow and that it may take two years for our state to get back to some semblance of normal, whatever that is.

NH home sales continue upward surge
The good news regarding the housing market continued in December, with residential sales ahead of December 2008 sales by 17 percent. Additionally, year-end sales for 2009 were ahead of 2008 by 6 percent, marking the first time since 2004 that year-over-year home sales had increased. From the Hoops for Heroes Website:
Every shot made shall serve as a reminder of the reverence
due those who have honored us with their selfless service to this country.
Every dollar raised shall serve to benefit those who now suffer for that sacrifice.
To all Veterans, though it will never be enough, this is our solemn thank you.
